We Do the Right Thing is an initiative to promote ethical decision-making and service excellence across all Auxiliary Services departments.
In everything we do, we ask ourselves:
1. Is this the right thing for my team members?
- Will my action make things better for other team members?
- Will my action create a positive work environment?
- Can I do something to help my teammates?
- Can I do something to encourage my teammates and make them smile?
2. Is this the right thing for fiscal accountability?
- Is this expense absolutely necessary?
- Is this financial transaction aligned with University of Georgia and University System of Georgia policies?
- Does this transaction accurately reflect services provided or received to support a business purpose?
3. Is this the right thing for our guests?
- Will my action make things easier for our customers?
- Will my action improve the customer experience?
- Is this going to surprise and delight our customers?
- Will it demonstrate respect and care for our customers?
4. Is this the right thing for our campus community?
- Does this align with the Auxiliary Services mission?
- Is this going to reflect positively on the University of Georgia?
- Will this make UGA and my campus community proud?
Auxiliary Services makes doing the right thing a central part of our organizational culture by:
Establishing clear values and ethics
through regular training and workshops and leaders who model ethical behavior for their employees.
Encouraging open communication
through anonymous reporting channels, regular check-ins to discuss ethical concerns or challenges, and other feedback mechanisms.
Implementing accountability measures
including clear policies and procedures for handling ethical violations, incorporating ethical behavior into performance reviews, and promoting transparency in decision making.
